Synopsis
In this vintage documentary, a young Gilbert Fastenaekens, sitting in the calm of his home, tells his story to the camera: a working-class environment from which he escaped through photography, his first works influenced by Koudelka, then a return to his homeland and a series about his parents. It was also at this time that the Belgian photographer produced his « Nuits », nocturnal urban landscapes that broke with the reporting practices of its time and will make him famous. When he returned to the factory, it was to observe it through the lens: like an imaginary archaeologist, he captured the colourful theatricality of its machines. If these projects brought him back to his sometimes painful inner needs, it was with landscapes that he found freedom and lightness.
What you will find in this film
