In the first chapter, Consumed by Grief, we accompany him to Comitancillo, Guatemala, where the funeral procession of a group of local migrants, killed by Mexican police while trying to reach the United States, is taking place. Their deaths, of unprecedented violence, served as a warning to all those trying to cross the border without paying the smugglers.

This second chapter, Ten Thousands Flee Central America, looks at the disastrous consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, followed by hurricanes Eta and Iota, which ravaged Central America, driving tens of thousands of people to migrate to the United States via Guatemala and Mexico.
