Brazilian photographer Inés Paulino arrived in Chile in 1970, devoting her early years to translation. At the end of the decade, she began working for various press organs opposed to the civil-military dictatorship, such as the magazines Hoy, Clan and APSI. She was one of the founders of the Association of Independent Photographers (AFI), set up in 1981.
