Pierre Lacourt

Pierre Lacourt was born in Geneva in 1961 and started out as a photographer. After a spell in prison for conscientious objection, he decided to leave Switzerland and took the entrance exam for INSAS, a film school in Brussels, in 1984. After completing the 4-year course, he made his first short fiction film, ‘1 sage femme en vaut 2’, and stayed on in Belgium to work as production manager, location manager and assistant director. 

Between 2001 and 2006, keen to return to directing outside the constraints of fiction, he made 4 commissioned documentaries for Arte. And in 2015 he directed a documentary for the cinema , Retour sur Terre, about the end of the oil era.
