Carl de Keyzer

Born in 1958, Carl de Keyzer began his photographic career in 1982. He also teaches photography at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent, Belgium.
His involvement in the world of photography led him to co-create and co-direct the XYZ gallery.
He was selected by the Magnum agency in 1990 and became a full member in 1994.
The systems of power and the visual impact they have on society are among his favourite themes.
The issues related to colonialism, communist societies and religion are often treated in their own propagandistic style, thus introducing, through the accumulation of images, a distance and a bittersweet irony.
