Photographer

Born in 1970 in Wettingen, Switzerland, Andreas Seibert is a photographer whose lens has keenly observed the socio-economic shifts in Asia. A graduate from the Zurich University of the Arts in Photography, Seibert also delved into German Literature and Philosophy at the University of Zurich.

Residing in Asia from 1997 to 2013, Seibert focused on long-term photographic studies. His work, featured in international magazines, has been exhibited globally. He is a member of the "Lookat Photos" agency and has been chronicling China's economic surge since 2002.

His lyrical documentary style is imbued with a palpable empathy for the subjects he encounters. His works are part of private collections as well as the permanent collections of the Swiss Foundation for Photography and the Aargauer Kunsthaus.

Seibert gained significant recognition for his work on Villi Hermann's film "From Somewhere to Nowhere," exploring the lives of China's internal migrants. Peter Pfrunder, Director of the Swiss Foundation for Photography, notes that "the strong impact of Andreas Seibert's images partly stems from his distinct aesthetic."
