Lucas Vernier
Director
After studying history, cinema and La Fémis documentary workshop, Lucas Vernier devoted himself to documentary creation. His films, which always start from something that comes to him, are built up over time through research, experimentation and new relationships.
His first feature film, BEHIND THE YELLOW DOOR, plays with the idea of a post-mortem encounter with his former neighbor Lutz Dille, a talented, wacky photographer who has fallen out of favor in art history. He then directed AHLAN WA SAHLAN, also produced by l'atelier documentaire, which bears witness to a journey begun in Syria two years before the war. The film was shown at Cinéma du Réel and won two awards at the Traces de Vies festival. He is working with Les Films du Bilboquet on a new project, SEPT ET UNE FONT HUIT, winner of the pitch award at the Brive film festival.
